I was skeptical about using U-verse at first. The only speed offered in my area was 3 mbps. My family is very internet oriented. We game, stream movies, and stream music. It turns out we could do all that with no problems with U-verse.

Initial service information was lacking. I wanted separate billing for myself for the internet from the existing phone account of my Mom. When a technician came to the house to install a new jack I was surprised. The tech lady explained how instead I may "piggy back" onto the existing account and save the expensive separate line install fee. On the phone again restarted service after cancelling the initial 1.5 Mbps service request with the knowledgeable and helpful technician. Service was much better on the phone the second time as I informed of a internet U-verse sale price and service levels. I choose 6 Mbps this time and got the billing option I wanted. After service start-up discovered my old modem from another company would not work as was told it would in my very first service contact over the phone. Called AT&T a third time and had brands of modems recommended that would work well. To avoid further delay I bought an inexpensive AT&T modem at Radio Shack. In all had four contacts with AT&T: 3 on the phone + 1 at the house. The first call I was left uniformed and resulted in a 6 day delay. The other contacts went very well; setup, install, personal, and online experience have been great and easy. I like the steady get "what you pay for" internet band width I have received.

Customer Service: Terrible Customer Service. Placed an order and was told I would receive service in a week. Took over three weeks and multiple phone calls to address inconsistent information on delivery/installation. Called customer service to explain everything that had happened and they gave me credit towards my account to smooth things over. At that point I was somewhat satisfied. After having service for a couple weeks I decided to upgrade to the next level. I called and got confirmation that I would be able to have the upgrade done on a weekend. When time came closer, I looked at a statement and noticed that service was scheduled on a Friday even though I clearly stated that I would not be available throughout the week. I had to call customer service, explain the situation again and have the upgrade cancelled due to my unavailability during the week currently. Internet speed: Decent. I am able stream Netflix and YouTube videos. I haven't had any down-time which is a plus (which is what gives my rating a 2 instead of a 1). Consensus: If there was another Internet option for me I would switch.
